Certified 4th-12th grade Mathematics
Julie had her first taste of teaching math while tutoring fellow college students for Howard Payne University’s Math Lab. From working in the Math Lab, she often became covered in chalk dust and that’s when she knew she had to become a teacher. Julie graduated with a B. S. in Math Education from HPU and went on to Baylor University to continue studying mathematics. She has 60 credit hours in mathematics including 18 hours of Master level credits.
Julie launched her professional teaching career working with high school students at La Vega ISD, and then became the Math Specialist for Premiere High School, a charter school that serves 6th -12th grade students. Later, she served as an All-Level Math Teacher at Waco ISD and taught for Challenge Academy at the Bill Logue Juvenile Justice Center. At Bill Logue, she was challenged to teach 4th -12th grade in a “one-room schoolhouse” environment, which required quick witted adaptability to multiple grade levels and a strong knowledge of each of the grade level curriculums. From that experience, she was able to write articles that evaluated math curriculum for a subscription-based website, www.LessonPlanet.com.
Julie has more than 14 years' experience in tutoring math for any grade level including the college level. She can tutor for any test such as the: STAAR, GED, ACT, SAT, GRE, HESI, and THEA. Julie currently is a professor at ITT Technical Institute, where she teaches math and business classes as an adjunct instructor.
