Camps / Registration
This summer we are offering several camps to target improved reading.
2019 Camp Read is an intensive four week summer reading camp for children grades PK-3rd and is conducted by master’s level speech language pathologists and reading specialists. Camp Read targets reading fluency, phonological awareness, decoding, academic vocabulary and reading comprehension which are essential components for reading success. Each camp has 12 campers who will be divided into three groups of four students while they work on a variety of skills for reading improvement. Parents may register their child for one or both sessions of Camp Read. A pre-test is required and homework practice is essential.
2019 Readers Theater With A Twist is a four week summer reading camp for children 3rd – 4th grade. The camp is conducted by a master reading teacher. Readers Theater is designed to develop reading fluency, reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. This camp teaches children strategies to become independent thinkers and readers. Specific comprehension strategies are taught and developed during this camp as children are required to analyze and identify key elements within a passage. This camp is limited to 12 campers who are divided into two groups of six students. Homework is minimal for this camp.
2019 Camp C.L.I.P. , Children’sLiteracy ImprovementProgram. This camp is appropriate for those children who may not know all of their letters and sounds. The focus of this camp is to foster emergent literacy skills through a multi-sensory approach. Camp is limited to 12 children and a pre-test is required. Home practice is encouraged. Parents may register their child for one or both sessions of Camp C.L.I.P.
A deposit fee must be paid upon registration and the payment is non-refundable. Children may sign up for one or both camp sessions.
